Water Heating
Don’t Land in Hot Water
Hot water heaters go to work every day. Unlike space heating equipment that operates only seasonally water heaters are in a constant state of readiness. And with the average household consuming 64 gallons of water every day, much of it hot, it’s easy to see why the lifespan of many water heaters is only 10-15 years.

Efficiency
Storage or Tank
Storage water heaters keep water hot and ready for use at all times. High efficiency models can produce 10% to 20% energy savings or about $500 over it’s lifetime. These require a lower initial investment than any other type. The drawback is what is known as standby losses which are due to heating the same water over and over again.
Tankless
Water is heated on demand as it circulates through a large coil. As a result there are no standby losses and you have an endless supply of hot water. There are, however, limitations on the number of fixtures that can simultaneously use hot water.
You can expect energy savings of 45% to 60% amounting to as much as $1800 over a 20 year lifetime.
